Vinicunca Mountain of 7 Colors
1 Day
ITINERARY
Day 1:
We will pick you up early from our agreed meeting place between 3-4:00 am (exact time will be determined the day before the trip) and set you off on a journey through South Valley. The drive to the trailhead at Quesiuno (4,326 m/14,189 ft) takes approximately 3 hours. Once we reach the Inkintuyoc Bridge, we will stop to enjoy a continental breakfast.
We then begin our challenging hike alongside a beautiful stream. You will have the chance to see herds of alpacas and llamas. We will also have constant views of Ausangate Mountain, which is the highest peak in the Cusco region. We will walk through rural villages and possibly have the chance to interact with local children.
After a total hike of approximately 4 hours, we finally reach our destination… The Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m/16,466 ft). After getting over the shock of their beauty, you will have time to explore the area, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere. We will spend approximately 30 minutes at the top if time permits.
We will then begin the descent back to the starting point. The hike will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Once we reach the bottom, we will enjoy our traditional style lunch before meeting up with our transportation that will be waiting for our return.
We will then embark on the 3-hour drive back to Cusco and be dropped off at or near the Plaza de Armas. Approximate arrival time is usually between 6 and 7 pm, but can vary depending on the speed of the group.
