Humantay Lagoon

1 Day

  ITINERARY

Day 1:

CUSCO - MOLLEPATA -SORAYPAMPA (LAGUNA HUMANTAY) CUSCO

Pick up time is between 4:15 and 4:30 am. You will travel in our transport to Mollepata Village (2 hours approx) which is located in the lush valley of the Apurimac River. You will have a light breakfast and then continue your journey to Soraypampa (3900 masl) (1-1.5 hours approx by car). Next, you will start the hike which takes between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes (depending on your speed). The hike itself is challenging, steep at times and ends at Humantay Lake which is at 4200mt or 13779 feet.

After the hike, you will see the wonderful Apu Humantay Lake, considered as a sacred mountain in Incan mythology. For this part of your hike, you can rent a horse to get to the lake if you prefer. After a 1 hour (approx.) visit to enjoy the view and take photos, you will hike back to the starting point and then return to Mollepata for lunch. You will then take our transportation back to Cusco with the drop-off point at Plaza San Francisco.

****During the rainy season and depending on the weather, this hike may have some parts that can be challenging and slippery. For this reason, we recommend good supportive shoes/boots and also ask that you be careful. Also, please note that this is a high altitude hike, so we recommend that you give yourself time to acclimatize.
